Book Review: The Scourge

Book Review The Scourge by A.G. Henley

The Scourge is an incredible read. It is a Horror tale set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are forced to hide away from those infected with the walking-dead disease. Oh, yes, it is a Zombie tale but I was delighted to find that it is also so much more than that.

It’s a love story, a tale of hope, and an inspiration of the enduring nature of the human spirit. But, happily, it also speaks to my dark side with a very realistic (and horrifically depressing) view of how secrets, lies and an unquenchable thirst for power can rip a community apart.

There are incredible surprises that I did not see coming. And believe me, I read a lot of Zombie books so when I get shocked by twists and turns in a Horror story, I get pretty excited! The Scourge is fabulously unique; I’ve not read anything like it.

Those left to find their way are some of the most engaging, convincing characters I have ever read about. Fenn is a brilliant lead character; she’s courageous yet vulnerable, challenged by health issues but so, so brave! I miss the characters from this book and want to know what will happen next. So, I will close with a request to this wonderful author: part two, please?
